Planned Giving

Leave your mark on Shelby County history

Your Gift at Work

Before passing away in 2008, Wayne Alwill designated the Shelby County Historical Museum as a beneficiary of a portion of his estate. These funds were used to establish an Endowment Fund that would ensure the longevity of our organization. By following in his footsteps and leaving a gift to the Shelby County Historical Museum in your estate plan, you can ensure that your local museum remains a community resources for future generations.

A gift may be designated as unrestricted and used where most needed. You may also designate your gift to the museum's established Endowment Fund, or toward a project that preserves and shares the history of rural Iowa. Gifts to the Endowment Fund may be eligible for the Endow Iowa Tax Credit.
