The Shelby County Historical Society is always open to accepting new volunteers to help complete projects. If you are interested in volunteering with us, please contact us! Specific opportunities will be listed below.
We are currently looking for volunteers to help flatten and organize probate records. As part of an on-going project, the Historical society is looking to digitize our probate collection to expand our digital collection available for community members. Volunteers will get the chance to work with original late-1800's and early-1900's documents from the Shelby County probate court system relating to various law suits and settlements. Volunteers will unfold and organize our 1873-1923 court records and place them in archival boxes for storage. Volunteers will also document the records on a Microsoft Excel document, noting location, plaintiff and defendant, year, and court case number.
